Violinist Nadia Francavilla and percussionist D'Arcy Philip Gray will perform "Dirt Road," a piece by Canadian composer Linda Catlin Smith written in 2006. The performance will take place on Thursday, January 13th, 2011 at 9:00 pm at Gallery Ingrid Mueller, 98 Regent Street (next to the Blue Door Restaurant).

Admission for this performance will be $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors and will be paid at the door. Spectators should bring a pillow or cushion to sit on the floor. The concert will be an hour long without intermission

Ingrid Mueller Art + Concepts and Motion Ensemble present John Cage’s
Sculptures Musicales as realized by the Montreal-based duo Les Moineaux D’Entendre with special guest Andrew R. Miller.

The event will happen at 9 p.m. on Friday, November 6 2009 at Ingrid Mueller Art + Concepts located at 117 York Street, Fredericton

Sculptures Musicales was conceived by John Cage in 1989 after an idea from the artist Marcel Duchamp: "Sounds lasting and leaving from different points and forming a sounding sculpture which lasts"

Sculptures Musicales was composed for the Merce Cunningham dance "Inventions". Each musical "sculpture" is a plurality of three or more static sounds that come from performers or loudspeakers distributed throughout the performance space. This piece is considered by some to be Cage's most deliberately aggressive piece.

Moineaux d’Entendre (Nadia Francavilla and D’Arcy Philip Gray) have been performing together in various situations for over 20 years. A fusion between performance and sound art, Les Moineaux d'Entendre bring together influences from 60's avant-garde and modern underground electro-pop. The group's first project, Décagé ("Uncaged"), premiered at the Montreal Fringe in June 2006. They have since played other concerts across Canada and in some parts of Europe.

Support for this event comes from the City of Fredericton and the Canada Council for the Arts.

"In 1966 charlotte moorman and I went to the venice biennale uninvited
and staged a commando-style happening. the leaflet saying just GONDOLA
HAPPENING"
"there were many hundreds of the audience waiting for our gondola, which was delayed as always by one hour. finally we appeared and everybody cheered. charlotte played first john cage piece. a movie was projected across the canal to the century old wall. luckily we could rent the only 16mm projector (for the rental) existing in the whole city of venice...and it did not break down. In the next piece (my saint saens variation), miss moorman bravely jumped into the canal and came out to
play the piece as instructed drench wet with the 10 centuries polluted water. after the show, she had to go to the doctor for the typhus shot. and after the show we had only 5 dollars left. we were thrown out of a free pension, becauser charlotte played the cello around 2 a.m. ... luckily we had had the fist class eurail pass and could stay overnight at
the first class waiting room at the station. in this whole tragi-comedy after 27 years I could find only one witness, who saw the performance and could testify that indeed it happened ... his name is wim bareen."
